The JSP-090-20 is a digital motor controller produced by Copley Controls for the Junus Motor Controllers series. It conditions power from a direct-current bus and processes command signals before sending controlled output to the motor. The unit drives brushless or brushed servomotors in automated machinery that needs precise torque and velocity regulation, and it is suited to motion systems where stable response and compact control hardware are important.
This unit can deliver a continuous output current of 10 Adc, translating into a sustained mechanical output of 0.85 kW when thermal limits are observed. Energy is drawn from a DC bus that may rise to +90 Vdc, so the installation must use conductors and protection suitable for that voltage. Switching devices modulate the bus through a pulse-width carrier at 20 kHz; operating in the ultrasonic range helps reduce audible noise and limits current ripple seen by the motor. The analog command path accepts ±10 Vdc with 12-bit resolution, and its input stage is buffered to avoid loading upstream motion controllers. Internally, current regulation executes every 50 µs, while the outer velocity algorithm runs on a separate loop for fast dynamic response.
Higher transient demands are supported by a peak output capability of 20 Adc, allowing the controller to supply acceleration or disturbance torque for several hundred milliseconds before returning to its continuous rating. During those intervals, the electrical stage can pass up to 1.64 kW to the motor windings. The converter’s output pattern contains a second-order component at 40 kHz, so cable shielding and filter selection should account for that spectral line. Motion tasks also benefit from a velocity update rate of 4 kHz (250 µs), which supports responsive interaction with high-speed position loops in modern PLCs. Command inputs are presented through a 66 kΩ front end, which helps limit input current and preserve signal integrity on longer cable runs.
