The 800-1468 is a single-axis motor controller produced by Copley Controls within the Junus Motor Controllers series. It regulates current and velocity in brushless or brushed servomotors, allowing PLCs or stand-alone indexers to command precise torque and speed profiles in automated machinery. In industrial automation environments, the unit converts analog command signals into high-frequency PWM waveforms that drive motor windings and provide tight loop control for conveyors, pick-and-place heads, and similar motion axes. Its single-axis design allows the controller to manage an individual motor without requiring a multi-axis drive platform.
The controller accepts an analog command range of ±10 V DC through a differential input that is digitized at 12-bit resolution, providing 4,096 discrete setpoints for fine torque or velocity adjustment. The reference port has an input impedance of 66 kΩ, so the controller places minimal load on upstream motion cards and analog signal sources. During continuous operation, the drive supplies up to 10 A DC and supports a sustained motor output of 0.85 kW. Current regulation is refreshed at 20 kHz, matching the PWM carrier frequency and helping reduce current ripple under changing loads. The power electronics, control logic, and connectors fit into a housing measuring 130 × 82 × 31 mm, which simplifies placement in space-limited control cabinets.
For transient demands, the output stage delivers up to 20 A DC and supports output bursts of 1.64 kW for as long as 1 second, providing additional capacity for acceleration or sudden load changes before thermal limits intervene. Velocity corrections are computed at a 4 kHz rate, while the synthesized PWM waveform contains a 40 kHz ripple component and supports minimum pulse widths of 220 ns to maintain linearity at high duty cycles. Two open-drain outputs can switch external devices at up to 40 V and 1 A DC, allowing the controller to operate a brake release circuit or relay without separate output drivers.
