Product Description:
The Copley Controls 5221 operates as a High-Performance Direct Current Servo Power Amplifier which delivers maximum power for demanding applications. Due to its +20 A at ~171 V output range, this device works well with motor loads which need high-torque production. The 5221 operates with a switching frequency of 25 kHz while delivering a maximum output current of 52 A to ensure fast response capabilities and minimal output ripples. The device operates over the +24 to +180 VDC input voltage range to support diverse system applications. Its built-in safety mechanisms including input over-voltage protection with input short circuit protection and over-temperature protection boost system safety while preventing system failures.
The 5221 features logic inputs for system control and safety. Users can operate the motor with different control features including the /Enable as well as /POS enable and /NEG enable and /Brake and /Reset which can be temporarily disabled or enabled. The 5221 amplifier also has a logic output for example the +Fault (/Normal) output is the real-time output of the amplifier. This type of output is capable of sinking current and is employed to enable safety alarms or to depict fault restoration procedures.
The 5221 has LED indicators to check the status. If a Normal LED on the top is green, it means that the device is in a normal state while a "Power OK" LED means that the power supply is adequate. A red-FAULT LED is used to indicate a fault condition if present. All these characteristics including its high power density and overall construction, make Copley Controls 5221 a perfect fit for harsh applications in industrial automation, robotics and other motion control systems.
