It conditions analog or PWM reference commands and delivers bidirectional current to permanent-magnet motors, enabling precise positioning and speed control in pick-and-place machines, small gantries, and semiconductor handlers. By integrating fault reporting, current feedback, and signal conditioning, the module serves as an intermediate power stage that links low-voltage motion controllers to higher-voltage motor windings in industrial automation cells.
The control loop has a bandwidth of 3 kHz, so velocity or torque errors are corrected rapidly. The amplifier supports a continuous motor output of ±5 A at ±173 V. Its output stage has a resistance of only 0.4 ohm, which minimizes resistive power losses. Pulse-width modulation occurs at 25 kHz, placing switching noise above the audible range and reducing torque ripple in low-inductance windings. For rapid acceleration or short overloads, the amplifier can deliver ±10 A at ±171 V, after which thermal foldback protects the power devices. A differential gain of X1 is applied to the reference input, allowing the commanded voltage to translate directly into output current without additional scaling.
