The 5211 is a compact DC servo amplifier manufactured by Copley Controls for the DC Servo Amplifiers series. It occupies the drive slot in a closed-loop motion axis, where it conditions low-level command voltages from a controller and delivers controlled power to a brushed DC servo motor. Within an automation cell, the unit regulates armature current so that torque follows the reference signal, allowing positioning, tension, or speed loops to remain stable under dynamic load changes.
The power stage supplies a continuous output of 5 A and can surge to 10 A for brief overloads. These limits are coordinated with a peak duration of 1 second so thermal stress stays within safe bounds. Current is switched by a PWM bridge that operates at 25 kHz, keeping ripple outside most mechanical resonance bands.
