The 5121CE is a single-axis DC servo amplifier manufactured by Copley Controls for the DC Servo Amplifiers series. It conditions power and control signals so that brushed or brushless DC motors receive precise current loops during positioning tasks in industrial automation. By converting analog or PWM references into regulated motor current, the unit allows machine builders to drive linear stages, actuators, and rotary servos without complex discrete circuitry.
At its continuous rating, the amplifier delivers 10 A of output current, providing a stable torque range for sustained motion. For short load surges, it can supply a peak of 20 A for up to 1 s before returning to steady-state operation. The power stage has 0.2 Ω of output resistance, which keeps the voltage drop across the H-bridge low, and the unit has a 25 W power rating at Icont. Current is pulse-width modulated at 25 kHz, a switching frequency high enough to minimize audible noise and ripple. With a small-signal bandwidth of 3 kHz, the control loop tracks reference changes quickly, enabling tight velocity or position control in medium-speed servomechanisms.

The analog command port accepts signals up to ±20 V and presents 94 kΩ of input resistance, so typical motion controllers can drive it without buffering. Digital logic inputs tolerate 32 VDC, switch at a 2.5 V threshold, and load sources with 10 kΩ, enabling direct connection to 24 V sensors. A 5 V auxiliary rail supplies 250 mA for encoders or Hall devices, providing power for supported feedback components.
