Product Description:
The 413CE is a single-axis servo amplifier produced by Copley Controls for the DC Servo Amplifiers series. It interfaces between a motion controller and a DC motor, modulating bus power so that industrial actuators receive regulated current for velocity and position loops in packaging lines, semiconductor tools, and material-handling cells. The power section accepts a DC bus voltage of up to 90 V, allowing the amplifier to operate higher-speed motors or compensate for voltage drops along extended cable runs.
During normal operation, the unit supplies a continuous motor phase current of 15 A, while acceleration or deceleration can draw up to 30 A for short intervals without saturating the output stage. Pulse-width modulation occurs at 25 kHz; this high carrier frequency minimizes audible noise and decreases ripple current through the motor windings. The current loop tracks load changes with a small-signal bandwidth of 3 kHz, allowing fast torque corrections when operating conditions change. The reference input accepts signals of ±20 V and has an impedance of 100 kΩ, placing a light load on upstream motion controllers.
The amplifier disconnects its output when the bus voltage exceeds 92 V or falls below 22 V, helping prevent component stress during regenerative events or brownouts. Thermal shutdown engages when the heat plate reaches 70 °C, protecting the electronics if cooling airflow becomes insufficient. An auxiliary supply provides ±5 V at ±5 mA for analog sensors. The logic section recognizes control edges after the command line crosses a 2.5 V threshold. Voltage-mode response has a bandwidth of 200 Hz, allowing command filters in the controller to be matched to the amplifier’s dynamics. The electronics are housed in a case measuring 3.28 × 5.09 × 1.43 in, allowing the module to fit on DIN rails or panel brackets in densely arranged control cabinets.
