The 303P is a DC servo amplifier produced by Copley Controls for the DC Servo Amplifiers series. It translates low-level command signals into controlled motor current, allowing automation systems to regulate velocity or position without connecting large power stages directly to control electronics. Within an industrial cabinet, the unit interfaces with motion controllers, delivers bidirectional armature current, and monitors load conditions so electromechanical axes remain responsive under changing demands.
The command input spans a reference range of ±10 V, so full output current is available when the controller drives the signal to either limit. A built-in current-feedback port scales measured motor current at 2.0 A/V, allowing the control system to close a fast outer loop without additional shunts. The amplifier’s analog monitor saturates at ±6 V, and its normal logic output remains at +5 V through a 1.87 kΩ series resistor that protects downstream optoisolators. Internally, a pulse-width modulator switches at 22 kHz, moving switching artifacts above most mechanical resonance ranges. The small-signal bandwidth extends to 3 kHz for precise tracking of high-rate corrections. The specified gain profile assumes a 250 µH inductive load and a 2.5 Ω resistive load.
