The Copley Controls 230-07 is a panel-mount DC servo amplifier supplied as part of the DC Servo Amplifiers series. The unit interfaces between a motion controller and a brushed or brushless motor, regulating current so that commanded torque and velocity profiles are achieved in industrial automation equipment such as pick-and-place heads or indexing tables. Copley Controls designed this model for distributed installations where tight current regulation, fieldbus connectivity, and digital feedback handling are required, allowing consistent motor dynamics across varying loads.
During continuous operation, the amplifier delivers up to 5 A DC of motor current, while transient demands can reach 7 A DC for up to 1 second before the drive returns to its continuous current level. The current loop is refreshed at 15 kHz, and pulse-width modulation is generated at a carrier frequency of 30 kHz; the high switching frequency minimizes audible noise and reduces torque ripple in motors with a minimum phase inductance of 200 µH per phase. The power stage can draw 8 A RMS from the supply, and regenerative events are absorbed internally with a peak capacity of 80 W. Encoder ports supply 250 mA at 5 V and accept feedback signals at 20 million counts per second, supporting high-resolution position loops.
