In multi-axis industrial automation, this unit conditions command signals, modulates power to a brushless or brushed motor phase set, and monitors protective limits so a motion controller can focus on trajectory generation. Its role is to translate low-level references into timed PWM waveforms that supply precise torque or velocity at each machine axis. This makes it suitable for coordinated handling, indexing, and transfer applications that require repeatable motor response during changing load conditions.
The analog command channel accepts a differential reference of ±10 Vdc, letting PLC or motion cards drive the amplifier with standardized velocity or torque commands. During continuous operation, the power stage can deliver 5 Adc, while momentary demands are supported by a peak of 10 Adc for up to 1 s; this short burst corresponds to a peak output of 855 W for fast acceleration. Carrier switching occurs at 33 kHz, a frequency that helps reduce motor acoustic noise and improve current loop response. To maintain stability with low-current motors, the drive requires a minimum line-to-line inductance of 200 µH. Thermal and electrical limits include a continuous output capability of 427 W and a heatsink-mounted sensor that opens the gate drive at 80 °C. The transistor bridge has an output resistance of 0.075 Ω, which helps reduce I²R losses and supports tighter current regulation. A 250 mA Hall-sensor supply supports digital commutation feedback without external regulators, which simplifies use with motors that rely on onboard feedback devices. When internal temperature rises too far, the protection circuit shuts off switching activity instead of allowing continued drive operation.
