The ASP-090-36 DC-bus servo drive is produced by Copley Controls for the Accelus Servo Drives series. It accepts low-voltage supplies and delivers modulated three-phase outputs to brushless or brushed servomotors. By embedding digital current, velocity, and position loops, the drive forms the power stage between a motion controller and the mechanical axis, allowing automated equipment to accelerate predictably, hold load position, and follow programmed profiles. The compact module mounts near the motor and communicates through differential step/direction, analog, or encoder interfaces, giving OEMs flexibility in cabinet or distributed architectures.
With an HV bus that operates from 20 Vdc to 90 Vdc, the ASP-090-36 can be paired with battery packs or regulated supplies common in mobile or compact machines. The power stage delivers a continuous phase current of 12 Adc and tolerates surges to 36 Adc for brief accelerations. Those currents translate into a sustained mechanical output of 1.0 kW and a short-term capacity of 2.95 kW, giving headroom for dynamic moves without thermal derating. Control electronics draw 13.3 Adc under steady load and up to 40 Adc during peaks, figures that help size upstream fusing. An analog command range of ±10 Vdc is buffered by a 66 kΩ input impedance, preventing excessive load on motion controllers. The PWM bridge switches at 20 kHz, which helps reduce audible noise while keeping current ripple low.
The digital signal processor updates the torque command every 20 kHz, and the nested speed and position regulator closes at 4 kHz. These rates allow the drive to follow encoder feedback up to 20 Mcount/s and accept step inputs to 2 MHz without lag. High-bandwidth processing also maintains commanded trajectories when motor commutation data change rapidly. Integration into lightweight assemblies is simplified because the drive weighs only 0.43 kg, so it can be panel-mounted near moving axes to minimize cable inductance and improve current response.
