The XMS2-W0250ANN-02NETM5ECNN-S05RSN2NNNN3NN is a single-axis inverter drive module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the XMS2 ctrlX Drives series. As part of the second-generation ctrlX platform, the unit converts power from a shared DC bus into controlled three-phase output for synchronous or induction motors in automated machinery. Its integrated Multi-Ethernet interface is configured for EtherCAT (SoE), allowing direct connection to PLCs and motion controllers. Axis position and torque commands can therefore be exchanged with low latency over the communication network.
During continuous 4 kHz PWM operation, the power section can supply 147 A to the motor terminals, while the internal DC link accepts up to 300 A from the common bus. An input capacitance of 1.8 mF smooths energy fluctuations so current transients remain within controller limits. When the module is first energized, an inrush limiter restricts the charging current to 4 A and maintains that level for 20 ms before full conduction, minimizing stress on upstream circuit breakers. The nominal DC bus voltage is 750 V, which determines the required insulation clearance and the selection of compatible supply modules. An internal fan circulates air through the housing, while a ground capacitance of 2 × 100 nF diverts electrical noise to ground for electromagnetic compatibility. The ctrlX DRIVE plus control section is mounted on the same carrier, and the multi-encoder hardware option accepts resolver, EnDat, or SERCOS feedback.
Thermal losses are rated at 1489 W, so cabinet airflow must remove approximately that amount of heat under rated load. For dynamic demands, the current can rise momentarily to 250 A, providing headroom for rapid acceleration on heavy axes. The SafeMotion option supports integrated safety functions for motion applications. The cast enclosure measures 340.5 mm in height and 196.5 mm in depth, and the unit weighs 18.9 kg. These dimensions allow dense multi-axis arrangements on standard 300 mm panels without exceeding typical rail load limits.
