The XMS2-W0016ANN-02NETM5NNNN-S06RSN1NNNP5NN is a drive module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the XMS2 ctrlX Drives series. Classified as a servo inverter, it draws power from the shared DC bus of a modular drive rack and supplies controlled AC power to one motor axis. When installed inside an electrical cabinet on production machinery, the unit connects electromechanical actuators to higher-level motion controllers for coordinated speed, torque, and position control. This arrangement supports automated equipment such as packaging machines, handling systems, assembly cells, and other applications that require synchronized movement.
The power section is configured for single-axis control, so its internal current regulators operate one motor. It functions as an inverter that converts power from the 750 V DC bus into a variable-frequency, variable-voltage output for the connected motor. Command and feedback data are transmitted through Sercos III, which provides deterministic real-time communication for synchronized motion. Closed-loop calculations are performed by the ctrlX DRIVE plus control section on the same carrier board, reducing delays between feedback acquisition and output adjustment. Heat is removed through internal air cooling, with fans drawing cabinet air across the heat sink instead of using an external liquid-cooling circuit. The IP20 housing protects against contact with hazardous internal parts but does not provide protection against water, so the module must remain inside a suitable cabinet.
A built-in Multi-Ethernet interface allows the drive to connect to EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, or PROFINET networks without an additional communication card. Functional safety is provided by the SafeMotion package, which supports Safe Torque Off and related stopping functions when connected to an appropriate safety system. The second-generation platform provides shorter control cycles and expanded diagnostic capabilities compared with the original platform. The front door is omitted because the module does not require an integrated control panel. The unit has no expansion cards installed, and it is supplied without a motor connector set or auxiliary power-section options. These omissions reduce the space occupied by optional components and leave external connections available for the equipment configuration selected by the system designer.
