The XM2100.01-01-31-31-301-NN-NNNN is an embedded control unit manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the XM21 IndraControl Systems series. The device functions as the central processor in modular machine architectures, executing PLC logic, motion commands, and axis synchronization tasks. By combining a real-time processor, onboard Sercos fieldbus, and expansion buses, the controller directs servo drives, distributed I/O, and safety modules. Its role in industrial automation is to consolidate sequencing, communication, and diagnostics so that packaging lines, material-handling cells, and processing equipment can operate from a single deterministic platform.
The controller operates from a 24 V DC supply. It draws up to 1.5 A, and internal losses are limited to 36 W, allowing power and cooling requirements to be sized correctly within the control cabinet. The CPU is an Intel E620T 600 MHz single-core processor paired with 512 MB DRAM for program execution and data buffering. A minimum of 128 kB of remanent memory preserves flags and recipes through power cycles, while an external SD card with at least 1 GB provides mass storage for system data and user projects. The S20 remote I/O bus can supply 2 A to connected slices and exchanges data at 100 Mbit/s, supporting deterministic updates for high-speed sensors and actuators.
A MultiEthernet port supports 1 Gbit/s network traffic, and dual Sercos sockets provide 2 x Sercos III master/slave channels for real-time motion control. Up to 63 S20 modules may be addressed, and three additional extension modules can be added through an XA-BS02 base. The unit also offers one USB host port and one USB device port for service or data exchange, accepts application backups on an SD card, and includes 128 kB of retained SRAM for nonvolatile variables. The enclosure is rated IP20, which suits installation inside control cabinets.
