It serves as the power and control stage for one servo or induction motor in automated machinery, supplying regulated AC output while exchanging commands and operating data with the wider ctrlX automation platform. The converter manages speed, torque, and position control for applications such as production equipment, material-handling systems, and coordinated machine axes. Its compact format combines power conversion, motion regulation, and network communication within one unit, reducing the amount of separate control equipment required inside the cabinet.
The embedded control section uses ctrlX DRIVE technology to process command signals and control IGBT switching for accurate motor-current regulation. The converter accepts a three-phase AC 200–500 V supply with a +10%/-15% tolerance, accommodating a broad range of industrial power systems. It provides a continuous motor phase current of up to 120 A, supporting motors that require sustained current during demanding operating cycles. An integrated braking transistor directs regenerated energy to an external resistor during rapid deceleration. Internal air channels remove heat from the power electronics, while the factory-mounted front panel simplifies physical assembly. The enclosure has an IP20 rating, so the converter must be installed in a closed cabinet that protects it from moisture, debris, and accidental contact. A motor connector set is not included, allowing the installation to use connectors selected for the applicable motor and cable arrangement.
Control-system communication is provided through a Multi-Ethernet interface, which supports integration with compatible industrial networks. Default fieldbus communication uses EtherCAT (CoE) for deterministic cyclic transfer of commands, feedback values, and diagnostic information. SafeMotion is installed as hardware option 1, providing integrated monitoring of safety-related speed and position functions without separate monitoring relays. Application code runs in the DRIVE Runtime under the Standard runtime environment, giving the control section a consistent platform for executing supported drive functions. The maximum output frequency remains below 599 Hz. The unit is supplied with its front panel installed, while the open motor-connection arrangement permits cable routing that matches the surrounding cabinet layout.
