The XCS2-W0100ABN-01AETT0NNNN-S03RSN2NNNN0NN single-axis converter is built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the XCS Single Axis ctrlX Converters series. Designed as part of the Generation 2 ctrlX DRIVE platform, it transforms three-phase plant power into a precisely modulated output for one motor axis. In automated assembly lines, printing systems, and material-handling cells, the device closes the loop between digital motion commands and electromechanical actuation. This arrangement enables accurate speed, torque, and position control inside compact control cabinets.
The converter accepts a three-phase supply of 3 x AC 200–500 V with a +10%/-15% tolerance, eliminating the need for separate voltage families on global machines. Its power stage delivers up to 100 A of phase current, allowing rapid acceleration and braking profiles without derating. Excess heat is removed through internal air cooling, which simplifies cabinet airflow design. The IP20 enclosure protects against contact with hazardous internal parts, while the surrounding cabinet provides additional protection. Integrated Safe Torque Off (STO) supports basic machine safety by cutting motor energy through redundant solid-state channels. SafeMotion hardware option 1 is factory-installed for advanced certified functions, while the second and third hardware slots are not equipped. A front panel provides access to local diagnostics, and the converter is supplied without a motor connector set. Its maximum output frequency remains below 599 Hz, so export licensing is not required for that operating limit.
High-level control is handled through Multi-Ethernet interfaces that automatically detect the selected fieldbus connection. Real-time data exchange with drives and PLCs occurs over EtherCAT (SoE) when that protocol is selected, supporting synchronized communication for motion commands and operating data. Motion algorithms run on the ctrlX DRIVE control hardware under the Standard runtime environment. The power section includes a braking transistor, allowing regenerative energy from motor deceleration to be directed to an external braking resistor without requiring a separate braking module.
