The XCS2-W0054ARN-02AETM5NNNN-S03RSN2NNNN5NN single-axis converter is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the XCS Single Axis ctrlX Converters series. As a Generation 2 ctrlX DRIVE unit, it regulates torque, speed, and position in industrial automation cells. Intended for cabinet mounting, the device receives incoming line power, processes it through an IGBT inverter, and delivers variable-frequency power compatible with servo or induction motors. This arrangement allows the connected drive system to control acceleration, steady operation, and deceleration from a single power stage.
The converter accepts a three-phase supply of 3 × AC 200–500 V with a tolerance of +10% to -15%, allowing it to operate in 200 V, 400 V, and 480 V installations. Its power stage can deliver up to 54 A, supporting medium-power applications such as gantry drives and automated handling equipment. Thermal control relies on internal air cooling, which draws air through the chassis and exhausts it into the enclosure plenum. The housing has an IP20 protection rating, guarding against accidental contact with hazardous internal parts while requiring installation inside a closed cabinet. Regenerative energy is managed by an integrated braking transistor and braking resistor, eliminating the need for an external braking chopper. The front panel permits local parameter entry and provides direct access to operating controls. The unit is supplied without a motor connector set, allowing the required connection hardware to be selected for the installation. Its maximum output frequency remains below 599 Hz, so an export license is not required for that operating range.
Field communication is provided by Multi-Ethernet hardware, allowing the converter to connect with supported industrial Ethernet networks. Real-time motion control uses EtherCAT (SoE) as the primary communication protocol for cyclic commands and drive data. Axis logic runs on ctrlX DRIVEplus electronics within the Standard runtime environment and uses the DRIVE Runtime functional scope. Functional safety is provided through SafeMotion (M5), which supports the SafeMotion Position feature set without additional plug-ins. The communication and safety functions operate within the converter, reducing the number of separate control modules required in the cabinet. The available front-panel controls also support local access when network-based parameter management is not being used.
