The XCS2-W0054ARN-02AETM5ECEC-S06RSN3TE1P5NN is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the XCS Single Axis ctrlX Converters series. This Generation 2 device operates within the ctrlX DRIVE architecture and serves as a compact power stage that converts three-phase factory power into precisely modulated motor voltage and current. Operating one mechanical axis at a time, it transfers motion commands from a PLC or CNC to the connected motor, allowing coordinated speed, torque, and position control in automated packaging, assembly, and material-handling machinery.
Communication relies on Multi-Ethernet ports, while axis processing runs on the ctrlX DRIVEplus controller card installed on the internal backplane. The input section accepts 3 × AC 200–500 V, +10%/-15%, providing compatibility with a broad range of industrial power systems. Heat is removed through an internal air channel, allowing the power electronics to operate without a separate liquid-cooling circuit. Continuous output current is rated at 54 A, making the converter suitable for mid-power servo or induction motors. Dynamic deceleration energy is absorbed by a factory-installed integrated braking transistor and braking resistor, eliminating the need for an external brake chopper. Dual multi-encoder interfaces are available through Hardware Options 2 and 3, allowing resolvers, EnDat encoders, or BiSS feedback devices to connect without additional interface cards.
The housing has an IP20 degree of protection, which prevents accidental contact with hazardous internal components during cabinet operation. Real-time fieldbus communication is provided through EtherCAT (CoE), supporting cyclic command and feedback exchange with the machine controller. Axis operation is monitored by the SafeMotion (M5) package, and the SafeMotion Position functional scope supports certified STO, SOS, and SLT reactions. A detachable operating panel is included for local setup and drive status access. The standard runtime environment includes DRIVE Runtime Productivity at the current release status. No export license is required because the maximum output frequency remains below 599 Hz. The converter is supplied without a motor connector set and can host Technology Apps for parameter uploads or application programming on the XCS2 platform.
