Product Description:
Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the XCS2-W0023ARN-02AETM5ECNN-S04RSN2NNNN5NN as part of its XCS Single Axis ctrlX Converters series. Classified as a Generation 2 ctrlX DRIVE single-axis converter, it supplies regulated three-phase power to one motor and performs drive control functions directly inside the automation cabinet. By combining power electronics with motion logic, the unit forms the axis interface between the plant PLC and a servo or induction motor, enabling position, velocity, and torque regulation in packaging machines, material-handling cells, and general factory equipment.
The ctrlX DRIVEplus control hardware performs motion loops and stores operating parameters. A Multi-Ethernet port connects the converter to several industrial Ethernet networks without requiring additional communication cards. Heat is removed by internal air cooling, which directs airflow across heat-generating components within the housing. The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating, so the unit must be installed inside a protective automation cabinet. The supported supply range is 3 × AC 200–500 V (+10%/-15%), accommodating common low-voltage and high-voltage industrial power systems. An included front panel provides local access for setup and status review, while the optional multi-encoder interface accepts several types of motor feedback devices.
The converter supplies a maximum current of 23 A for controlling its connected motor. An integrated braking transistor and braking resistor dissipate regenerated energy during rapid deceleration, helping control the DC-bus voltage when mechanical energy returns from the motor. Cyclic motion commands are exchanged through EtherCAT (SoE) within the DRIVE Runtime environment, providing real-time communication with the higher-level controller. Functional safety is provided by SafeMotion (M5), and its SafeMotion Position scope supports certified position-related shutdown functions. The device is supplied without a motor connector set, so the required connection hardware must be selected for the intended motor and cable arrangement. The standard runtime profile supports the converter’s onboard motion functions without a preloaded technology function application.
