The VT-5008 S12 is an input/output card engineered by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the VT-5000 I/O Cards series. Installed in hydraulic or general automation racks, the board conditions logic-level commands so a controller can drive proportional valves and relay coils without discrete wiring. By fitting into a standardized Eurocard cage, it allows solenoid actuation and feedback channels to connect directly to the motherboard backplane, streamlining cabinet layouts and simplifying access to the board.
The board measures 100 × 160 mm, allowing it to fit neatly in 3U subracks. It is powered from a nominal 24 VDC system rail and draws less than 2 A, keeping electrical demand below 50 VA at the nominal supply voltage. Internal timing is produced by a crystal oscillator running at 2.5 kHz with a tolerance of ±10%, establishing the chopper frequency used to regulate the driver channels. The outputs become active when the enable pin rises above 8.5 V and deactivate when it falls below 6.5 V, preventing chatter near the switching threshold. Each solenoid channel supplies 2.2 A with a tolerance of ±20% into 10 Ω coils. An onboard relay switches field devices when the armature voltage reaches 16.8 V and releases when the voltage falls to 2.4 V.
Circuit protection is provided by a time-delay fuse rated at 2.5 A T, which helps prevent nuisance trips during inrush while clearing sustained faults. The supply voltage may fall to 22 V or rise to 35 V without disrupting operation, providing operating margin for long cable runs and battery-backed sources. The relay coil has a resistance of 2150 Ω, limiting heat production inside the relay package. The card has a mass of only 0.15 kg, reducing the mechanical load placed on the host backplane. Its compact format also allows the board to be inserted into compatible rack slots without requiring additional mounting hardware.
