The module sits in a control rack and links low-level command sources to hydraulic or pneumatic actuators by converting reference voltages into controlled coil current. Within an industrial automation system, it serves as the interface stage that energizes a proportional solenoid while monitoring the power supply, enable signal, and fuse condition. Because the board handles both logic input levels and load current, it can perform control and amplification functions without separate power amplifiers or relay blocks.
The nominal operating voltage is 24 VDC with a +40%/-5% tolerance, allowing the circuitry to accommodate the stated voltage variation from the supply. When energized, the card has a maximum current draw of 2 A, which must be included when calculating the required capacity of the cabinet power source. Four command channels accept ±9 V references, providing multiple inputs for command signals from the connected controller. A fifth channel accepts a ±10 V reference, giving the card an additional input range for a compatible control signal. Internal timing is supplied by an oscillator operating at 2.5 kHz ±10%. This oscillator provides the switching frequency used for pulse-width modulation of the output current delivered to the proportional solenoid.
The power section delivers a solenoid current of up to 1.8 A ±20% through a 5.4 Ω path, enabling proportional force control on a connected valve. Overall power consumption has a maximum value of 50 VA, which helps limit the thermal load placed on a densely populated control rack. Undervoltage protection disengages the drive functions when the supply falls to 22 V, preventing continued output operation below that threshold. The card can operate at supply levels up to 35 V without an immediate shutdown. Internal relay thresholds supervise the operating state, while a 2.5 A time-delay fuse protects the circuit against excessive current during startup surges and other transient conditions.
