Product Description:
The VT 5005-16 is an input/output interface card manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the VT-5000 IO Cards series. Installed in valve amplifier racks, it conditions analog command levels and drives proportional solenoids so that PLCs can modulate hydraulic pressure or flow with repeatable accuracy in industrial automation cells. All terminations route through a 32-pin DIN 41612 Form D connector, providing a secure connection to the rack backplane and simplifying access to the card.
The board is powered by a nominal 24 VDC supply, and the internal circuitry draws up to 2 A, which keeps conductor sizing modest for control cabinets. Overall energy draw is limited to 50 VA. Four primary command channels accept differential signals of ±9 V, while a fifth channel is scaled for ±10 V to accommodate standardized reference sources. A crystal-controlled oscillator runs at 2.5 kHz; this carrier drives pulse-width modulators that generate a regulated ±9 V auxiliary rail and a buffered driver output of 5 V for external logic. Driver stages can handle a 30 mA load, and the auxiliary output can supply 25 mA, allowing small sensors or indicators to be powered directly from the card. Command enable becomes active after the backplane line rises above 8.5 V, preventing false starts during power-up.
On the actuation side, each channel can deliver up to 1.8 A of solenoid current to coils with a resistance of 5.4 Ω. Relay outputs with 2,150 Ω coil windings are also supported, allowing the card to operate compatible switching devices alongside proportional hydraulic valves. Protection is provided by an onboard time-delay fuse rated at 2.5 A T, which permits normal inrush current without nuisance trips while protecting circuit traces from sustained overloads. The regulated current output supports consistent solenoid operation when analog reference levels change during pressure or flow control. Its signal conditioning separates low-level commands from the higher-current actuation path, helping preserve control stability in electrically noisy industrial cabinets.
