Product Description:

The VM60 is a current-controlled amplifier drive built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the VM Amplifier Drives series. Designed to sit between a three-phase mains supply and a servo motor, the unit modulates current to the motor windings so that industrial controllers can command precise torque and speed. In automated machinery, this product converts line power into regulated drive current, allowing coordinated multi-axis motion without external braking resistors. Its current-controlled design supports stable response during acceleration, deceleration, and continuous-speed operation in servo-driven equipment.

Incoming power is accepted over a supply window of 3 x 380...415 VAC, a range that matches common plant distribution voltages. At 45 °C, the unit can deliver a continuous phase current of 60 A (45 °C), while transient demands are covered by a peak capability of 150 A. Heat produced by switching losses is removed through forced ventilation. An internal fan moves 80 m³/h of air across the heat sink to maintain semiconductor temperature. This cooling arrangement works with the integrated resistor ballast to control regenerated energy and support operation on mains frequencies from 48 to 62 Hz.

For braking duties, the drive can dissipate up to 250 W continuously, so rapid deceleration cycles stay within the internal resistor capacity. Operation is permitted up to +55 °C, and above that point the output current is reduced to protect the power stage. Reliable use is permitted up to 1800 m above sea level, and the blower operates from 24 V DC at 100 mA to maintain airflow. The unit has a mass of 8 kg, which helps keep cabinet mounting practical and supports stable installation near high-speed actuators.
