Product Description:
The VM100/R is a multi-axis amplifier rack produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the VM Amplifier Drives series. It forms the central power and diagnostic interface for several servo drives, distributing DC link energy and generating status signals that a controller can monitor. In automated machinery, it simplifies wiring, consolidates protective functions, and helps connected servo modules enter a defined ready state before motion is enabled.
This unit is fed from a three-phase supply of 3 x 400 V and can supply up to 10 servo drive modules through its internal DC link. 8 individual status lines provide diagnostic signals, allowing the controller to react to overcurrent, overtemperature, or line loss without extra I/O hardware. The internal logic electronics operate from a stabilized rail of 26 V DC, and they draw a base current of 80 mA while the machine is idle. When the DC link voltage rises to 690 V DC, the amplifier triggers an internal torque-reduction command that forces every connected servo stage to limit regenerated energy and protect the link capacitors. Ready signaling is handled by two potential-free contacts rated at 24 V DC and 1 A, while an auxiliary diagnostic output can drive loads up to 100 mA. Mechanical attachment uses M6 screws so the rack can be secured to cabinet backplates without additional brackets.
The torque-reduction override resets automatically once the link falls to 630 V DC, restoring full drive capability without manual intervention. For continuous reliability, the electronics must remain below an ambient temperature of 55 °C, and a vertical clearance of 100 mm above and below the heat sink is required to maintain airflow. Two ready outputs allow independent monitoring by a safety relay and a PLC, and the mounting dimension aligns with standard 19-inch cabinet hole patterns for straightforward installation in existing panels.
