Bosch Rexroth Indramat builds the VEP50.3CHN-256NN-MAD-128-NN-FW, an operator terminal in the VEP Embedded Terminals series. The unit integrates visualization, command entry, and network connectivity so a machine controller can present process data and accept operator actions directly on the factory floor. Because it combines a PC-class processor with an industrial display and a protected front panel, it eliminates the need for a separate computer inside the cabinet.

The terminal uses a 600 MHz Celeron processor that runs the Windows CE 4.2 operating system and the visualization runtime without dedicated cooling hardware. For application storage, it carries 256 MB of SDRAM, enough for typical PLC diagnostics, recipe sets, and trend archives, while nonvolatile data reside in a 128 MB flash module that maintains programs after power loss. Operator feedback appears on a 15 in. TFT panel, and the analog-resistive surface accepts finger or stylus input across the full area. Graphics are rendered at 1024 × 768 pixels, giving sufficient density for detailed mimics and multistate buttons. One Ethernet TCP/IP port ties the panel to drive or PLC networks, the RS-232 link supports point-to-point maintenance access, and two USB 2.0 receptacles allow recipe import or data transfer by memory stick.

To withstand washdown spray, the aluminum bezel has IP65 protection when mounted, whereas the rear electronics compartment remains at IP20 and is intended for enclosure installation. The electronics draw 24 V DC from the control cabinet power bus and consume up to 53 W during full-backlight operation, permitting direct connection to common 10 A auxiliary supplies. System mass is 5.4 kg, which is light enough for hinged-arm mounting and substantial enough to damp vibration. Overall protection is supplemented by onboard surge suppression, and the integrated touchscreen removes the need for mechanical keys to reduce wear points. Network, USB, and serial connectors are located on the lower edge to shorten cable runs inside compact operator stations.
