Bosch Rexroth Indramat produces the VEH30.1BJN-128ET-G3D-128-NS-NN-FW handheld terminal for on-machine operation in automated plants. As part of the VEH Handheld Terminals series, it combines a graphic display, a 34-key membrane keyboard, and a dedicated STOP-button, allowing personnel to issue commands or immediately halt motion while standing next to conveyors, robot cells, or packaging systems.

The user interface centers on a 8.4 in TFT screen that renders menus at 800 × 600 px. A palette of 262,144 colors improves symbol recognition when operators navigate diagnostics. Data moves to supervisory controllers through a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet port, so firmware images and recipe files load without removing the unit from service. The enclosure carries a IP65 rating, enabling wash-down or dusty environments without additional housings. Internally, the terminal runs from a 24 VDC supply fed through the umbilical cable; that voltage also powers the backlight, keyboard LEDs, and the emergency STOP circuit. A shared 4 MB graphics buffer accelerates screen redraws, and the 34 keys provide tactile feedback for setpoint entry and function selection.

An NS-Geode processor clocked at 300 MHz handles HMI logic while a soldered 128 MB working memory holds the runtime image of WinCE and active application data. Long-term storage is offered by a CompactFlash card of 128 MB for parameter files and event logs. During normal service the terminal draws 0.7 A; startup transients can rise to 3 A because the cold cathode backlight and CPU voltage regulators charge simultaneously. Overall consumption does not exceed 14 W, so cabinet power budgets remain modest. A maximum inrush current of 3 A informs circuit-breaker sizing, and the STOP-button is wired on a dedicated safety channel to meet category requirements.
