The VDP80.1 FAN-C1-NN-ZN operator panel is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the VDP IndraControl Panels series. It is a human-machine interface designed to present machine status, receive commands, and relay them to the automation controller through local I/O. In an industrial cell, it allows operators to visualize process variables, adjust setpoints, and use jog functions without opening the electrical cabinet. Its compact construction permits mounting on gantries, conveyors, or cabinet doors where space is limited.

The display uses an a-Si TFT active matrix panel with a 21 cm (8.4 in) diagonal, supplying a 170.88 × 128.16 mm active area so graphics and alarm pages remain legible at typical arm's-length viewing distances. Image detail is rendered at 640 × 480 pixels, while a palette of 262,144 colors lets process trends and status indicators be distinguished clearly. White LED backlighting is rated for 50,000 h, giving years of continuous plant-floor operation before luminance falls to half of its initial value. The electronics draw a stabilized 24 V DC nominal input and approximately 2 A of current under full brightness. A single 1 × USB-A port sources up to 500 mA for barcode readers or memory sticks, and the handwheel interface is provided on a 25-pin D-SUB so manual pulse generators can be attached.

The panel communicates with the controller through 24 bits of digital input and 16 bits of digital output, allowing direct wiring of pushbuttons, selector switches, tower lights, or interlocks without extra I/O modules. Up to 10 m of shielded system cable can be installed between the VDP unit and the host PC or PLC, preserving signal integrity in noisy environments. The power connector follows a 5.08 mm pitch for compatibility with standard plug-in terminal blocks, and the thermal design keeps the enclosure within its normal operating range at a 2 A load. This arrangement supports local machine operation while keeping panel wiring compact and organized.
