Intended for machine fronts and control stations, it combines a graphical display with a tactile keypad so users can monitor process variables, acknowledge alarms, and issue setpoint commands in an industrial automation environment. Its front-panel design supports local machine interaction where status information and command entry need to remain available at the point of operation. Because the display and keypad are integrated in one housing, routine status checks and command changes can be handled directly from the machine panel.

In operation, a Z84 microprocessor clocked at 10 MHz executes user logic stored in 256 kB of flash, while 128 kB of static CMOS RAM stores transient data. The monochrome LCD with a CCFL backlight spans 131 × 72 mm and renders graphics at 240 × 128 pixels; each pixel measures 0.49 × 0.49 mm, which provides clear presentation of trend curves and diagnostic text. Contrast remains stable under factory lighting because the cold-cathode lamp provides uniform illumination across the display surface. Thirty-four membrane keys are arranged in cursor, numeric, and soft-function groups for organized data entry. An INTERBUS interface exchanges screen updates and keystrokes with the supervising PLC without external converters, while the remaining onboard resources hold application dialogs, bitmap icons, and alarm tables.

Under nominal load, the terminal draws 0.4 A from a regulated 24 V DC supply, with inrush peaks up to 3.0 A, and its circuitry tolerates excursions to 30.2 V before protective shutdown. The steel bezel and rear housing meet the IP54 Front / IP20 Rear ingress rating and fit into a 152 × 196 mm panel cutout, allowing service access from the cabinet interior while protecting the operator-facing surface from dust and sprayed fluids. This arrangement suits panel-mounted use in control stations where the front remains exposed and the rear stays inside the enclosure.
