It serves as the front-end panel that exchanges process data with the attached PLC or drive system while occupying minimal panel space and shortening cabinet wiring runs.

Processing tasks are handled by a Z84 central unit running at 10 MHz, which is adequate for scanning inputs, refreshing the display, and supporting communication routines.
