The VCP02.1BRN-PB-NN-PW operator terminal is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the VCP IndraControl Terminals series. As a compact human–machine interface, the unit mounts in a control-cabinet door and allows plant personnel to issue commands and read status messages from programmable controllers through a sealed keypad and text display. Within an automation cell the device serves as the local interaction point, linking machine logic and the operator without requiring a full PC.

Energized from a 24 V DC supply, the terminal draws only 7.2 W, so it can share the low-power control circuit without overloading cabinet power supplies. Processing is handled by a Z84 microprocessor clocked at 10 MHz, adequate for menu navigation and alarm handling on a text display. Program code and screen templates are stored in 256 KByte Flash, while variable data such as setpoints and counters reside in 128 KByte Static CMOS-RAM that is buffered against power loss. An RS232c auxiliary port supports local service laptops, and the built-in PROFIBUS DP fieldbus interface connects the terminal to the main PLC network. Eleven membrane keys give direct access to frequently used functions, reducing operator scroll time.

The visualization hardware is purpose-built for clear status feedback; the display presents 4 × 20 Characters on a background-lit LCD, and the active window measures 74 × 23 mm, giving four lines of alphanumeric data that remain legible in dim areas of the plant. The front bezel dimensions of 96 × 144 × 3.5 mm match a panel cutout of 82 × 138 mm, letting the unit drop into a standard ¼-DIN opening. Once mounted, the faceplate carries an IP65 rating against dust and water jets, while the enclosure inside the cabinet is protected to IP20, satisfying typical control-panel ingress requirements.
