It serves as a compact human-machine interface that mounts to a cabinet door and links shop-floor personnel with drive controllers and PLCs, giving direct control over start, stop, and override functions in automated cells. Four key-switch stages assign different access levels for setup, automatic, manual, or service modes, and fifteen membrane keys call predefined machine cycles.

The panel face is sealed to IP54, so dust and splashed liquids cannot reach the internal circuitry during routine cleaning. A mounting depth of 102 mm and an overall width of 407 mm allow it to fit into a 375 mm cutout while leaving space for wiring bends. Communication with the control network is handled through PROFIBUS DP; this single cable exchanges status bits and command words with minimal cycle delay.
