The VAM40.1-PB-NA-TA-TA-VB-MA-1608-NN operator panel is built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the VAM Machine Operator Panels series. Designed for flush mounting on a machine cabinet, it combines push buttons, indicator lamps, override knobs, and safety circuits to present a single human-machine interface for CNC- or PLC-controlled equipment. By routing manual commands and feedback signals through a compact front module, the panel reduces wiring complexity and delivers consistent control ergonomics to assembly lines, machining centers, and material-handling stations.

All 16 opto-isolated digital inputs and 8 transistor outputs operate at 24 V DC, and each output can sink up to 200 mA into field devices. Communication with the central controller occurs over PROFIBUS-DP, allowing cyclical exchange of I/O data. A front rating of IP54 shields the key matrix against dust and splashed coolant. The internal circuits are protected by a 3 A fuse, the logic domain draws up to 0.5 A, and the emergency-stop circuit provides 1 NO and 1 NC contact for immediate power isolation.

The front carries 30 illuminated short-stroke keys arranged around a handwheel recess and a four-position key switch, while individual feed and spindle override knobs each supply a single proportional channel. The varnished aluminum faceplate is covered by polyester foil in RAL 7035 light gray, and the assembly meets NEMA Type 1 requirements for indoor enclosures. Behind the bezel, the housing measures 407 mm × 169 mm × 102 mm, fitting a 375 mm × 137 mm cabinet cutout and leaving space for the flexible module slot, the digital handheld terminal connector, and the integrated handwheel interface. The I/O plane can draw up to 1.7 A, and the panel uses Protection Class 1 grounding.
