The VAM11.1-PB-NA-AB-TA-VB-1608-NN operator panel is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the VAM Machine Operator Panels series. It is a front-mounted human-machine interface that transfers operator commands to the automation controller and returns system status in real time. By combining a local logic board, discrete I/O, and a fieldbus link, the unit replaces hard-wired push-button stations and reduces cabinet wiring complexity in assembly lines, packaging equipment, and other machine-level control applications. This arrangement allows local machine functions to be started, stopped, acknowledged, or selected from the panel instead of from a separate cabinet interface. The panel is suited to stations where operators need direct access to status indication and simple command entry near the process.

The integrated PROFIBUS DP port allows cyclic data exchange with a master PLC at rates up to 12 Mbit/s. Internally, the board provides 16 digital inputs for sensor signals and 8 digital outputs for lamp or relay actuation. All field points are powered from a 24 V DC I/O supply, and the backplane can draw up to 1.7 A of I/O current before external distribution is required. Logic circuitry is separated from the field side and uses its own 24 V DC feed, drawing no more than 0.5 A so noise on output lines does not disturb the processor. This layout supports direct connection of push buttons, limit switches, indicator lamps, and interposing relays. A 3 A miniature fuse limits total consumption and simplifies service diagnostics.

The front panel has IP54 protection against dust ingress and water splashes when it is correctly gasketed to the door. A rectangular opening of 178 mm by 318 mm must be machined, and the housing then slides to an installation depth of 80 mm, yielding an overall depth of 102 mm behind the bezel. External dimensions are 350 mm wide and 210 mm high, and the assembly meets Protection Class 1 grounding requirements. The shallow body helps the unit fit doors and operator consoles where rear clearance is limited. Protection Class 1 grounding requires connection of the protective earth conductor during installation.
