The TVD 1.3-08 has a protection category of IP10 as per the DIN 40 050 requirements. The power supply unit manufactured by Bosch Rexroth is used with an external bleeder to reduce the amount of heat emitted in the control cabinet during operation. The bleeder is installed on the rare panel outside the control cabinet. Using an external bleeder renders the TVD’s internal bleeder resistor useless. The resistor in the power supply heats during operation. Flammable materials such as cable channels and connections should maintain a distance of 300 mm above and 40 mm on every side of the bleeder resistor. The power supply module is interconnected with other components to position-control the braking of the spindle drive.

The power supply unit has the X2/1 - X2/2 (ZKS) terminal input. The ZKS terminal operates with a current of 270mA and a voltage of 24 V DC. The TVD power contractor can only be removed from a power source if the ZKS input is closed. A short circuit can occur at the DC bus if the power supply is disconnected while the ZKS input is open. The ZKS input also acts as an additional safety feature for the machine. The terminal has a maximum switching rate of 25 operating cycles per minute with or without an additional capacitance.

Other terminals found on the power supply unit include the X2/3 - X2/4 (Input OFF) terminals and the X2/5 - X2/6 (Input ON) terminals. Both input terminals use a voltage of 24VDC with current consumption of 270mA. The power contactor in the TVD can be pulled in only if the OFF input is closed.
