Product Description:
The TDA 1.3-100-3-D0S is a main spindle controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the TDA Main Spindle Controllers series. It governs the drive inverter assigned to a machine-tool spindle, providing closed-loop speed and position control for turning, milling, or grinding tasks. The unit is intended for machine tools that need stable spindle regulation during cutting cycles and axis-synchronized motion. The housing must remain in a vertical orientation, and cooling relies on air circulating inside the control cabinet. At 10.5 kg, it fits standard rack frames without requiring a separate floor mount. Communication with a host CNC is available through a serial RS-232-C link, and no auxiliary encoder input is provided.
The armature circuit can supply a rated current of 100 A for continuous full-speed machining, while the thermal design permits a continuous effective current of 70 A when average load is evaluated over the duty cycle. A DC link rated at 300 VDC feeds the output stage, and a ±15 V test rail draws only 160 mA for internal logic checks. The control electronics derive field power from the 24 V service bus and consume 1.4 A during operation. Speed commands are accepted on a digital 16-bit parallel interface, which avoids the drift associated with analog reference signals. Operation is permitted up to 1000 m elevation without derating, provided cabinet airflow remains adequate.
Position feedback channels are tuned for high-precision applications. Rotor commutation is calculated at a resolution of 1/2,000,000 rev, and the spindle axis can be positioned in steps of 1/4,000,000 rev, which supports tool orientation and rigid tapping. The assembly tolerates ambient temperatures up to +55 °C when cabinet ventilation is adequate, and its open-frame construction carries an ingress rating of IP10. Because the enclosure is not sealed, it is intended for installation inside a protected cabinet rather than direct exposure to chips or coolant. Fine position processing and closed-loop spindle control also support synchronized machining cycles that depend on repeatable angular response.
