Product Description:
The TDA 1.3-100-3-A0S spindle controller is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the TDA Main Spindle Controllers series. Designed for machine-tool applications, it receives velocity references from a numerical control and produces regulated armature current that drives an induction or synchronous spindle motor. The device mounts vertically in the electrical cabinet beside other axis drives and serves as the interface that translates programmed speed and torque demands into electrical power for continuous cutting operations.
During operation, the controller can deliver a rated motor current of 100 A and sustain 70 A continuously without exceeding its heat sink limits. Energy is supplied through a shared bus that holds 300 VDC, giving the inverter sufficient voltage for rapid spindle acceleration. The velocity reference reaches the unit as an analog signal of ±10 V, and this command is converted into regulated armature current. The logic section draws 160 mA from the ±15 V test supply, and the relay circuitry consumes 1.4 A on the 24 V rail. Parameter adjustment is possible through the RS-232C interface, and there is no additional encoder input, so feedback must originate in the spindle drive. Because protection is limited to IP10, forced-air ventilation is required and the housing must be installed in a vertical orientation.
The controller has clear operating and storage limits for cabinet installation. Normal service is allowed up to +45 °C; above this point, output current must be reduced until the derated threshold of +55 °C is reached. For transport or warehouse storage, the unit tolerates temperatures from -30 °C to +85 °C without component damage. Altitude capability extends to 1000 m above sea level before additional cooling measures are required. At 10.5 kg, the chassis adds substantial mass to the cabinet assembly and supports stable mounting.
