Product Description:
The TDA 1.3-100-3-A0I is a main spindle controller produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the TDA Main Spindle Controllers series. It governs drive current and position feedback for high-speed machine-tool spindles, allowing coordinated acceleration, deceleration, and holding functions inside automated machining centers. By converting link-circuit power to a regulated three-phase output while monitoring angular feedback, the unit forms the interface between the CNC and the spindle motor. This arrangement supports stable spindle control during cutting cycles that require rapid speed changes and consistent position tracking.
The power section is designed for a peak current rating of 100 A, while its thermal design supports a continuous effective output of 70 A. This sustained limit indicates how much torque the spindle can deliver without overheating during normal operation. A link-circuit capacity of 300 V sets the energy level available for rapid speed changes. Control electronics draw a stabilized 24 V rail where the permissible load current is 1.4 A, supplying internal logic, relays, and sensor excitation. For diagnostic checks, the 15 V test point must not exceed 160 mA, so probe equipment cannot overload the low-level circuitry. These current and voltage thresholds affect fuse sizing, cable gauges, and drive duty cycles.
Feedback precision is supported by an incremental encoder output resolution of 360000 incr/rev. Absolute rotor feedback is accurate to 1/2,000,000 rev, and spindle position interpolation is refined further to 1/4,000,000 rev for very fine position control. The unit weighs 10.5 kg and must be mounted vertically on a backplane so air can move through the IP10 housing, while forced airflow inside the control cabinet removes heat. Operation is allowed up to 1000 m altitude and 45 °C without derating, with limited output maintained to 55 °C. A grounding conductor of at least 10 mm² cross-section is required, and installations must follow Humidity Class F limits to help prevent condensation during standby cycles.
