Product Description:
The TDA 1.3-050-3-A0D main spindle controller is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the TDA Main Spindle Controllers series. It governs the torque and rotational speed of machine-tool spindles by converting drive commands into regulated three-phase power. The unit is intended for vertical mounting inside the electrical cabinet and relies on internal cabinet air for cooling. A dedicated 16-bit Digital Position Command interface is available for applications that need numeric position data, and there is no additional encoder input at the controller end, so speed feedback must come through the standard spindle transducer channel.
The controller’s electrical ratings set its continuous operating range. The rated output stage can deliver a continuous line current of 50 A, while the thermal design permits a continuous effective motor current of 35 A under nominal conditions. The link circuit is energized from a DC bus held at 300 VDC, and analog velocity references are accepted over a differential line with a range of analog ±10 V. A separate blower connection rated at 220 VAC supplies the external spindle-motor fan so the internal power section is not loaded with auxiliary ventilation demands, and an internal 15 V test rail limited to 160 mA supports signal diagnostics.
Physical and ambient limits must be considered during installation. The unit has a mass of 10.5 kg, which provides a substantial chassis for conductive heat flow. Operation is permitted up to +55 °C and 1000 m altitude without derating, provided cabinet ventilation follows the stated airflow principle. The housing has an IP10 protection type, so only basic touch protection is provided and the device must remain inside a closed panel. The logic electronics draw auxiliary energy from the 24 V rail and require a load current of 1.2 A; wiring for this supply and the main grounding conductor must follow the minimum 10 mm² cross-section required for safety.
