Product Description:
The TDA 1.1-100-3-A0I spindle controller is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the TDA Main Spindle Controllers series. It serves as the power and regulation stage that links a CNC or PLC to the main spindle motor on machining centers, grinders, and turning equipment. This arrangement helps the spindle respond smoothly to commanded speed changes and maintain stable rotation under changing cutting loads. By tracking rotor feedback and accepting an analog ±10 V speed reference, the unit modulates current in real time so that spindle torque, acceleration, and deceleration stay within programmed limits during metal-cutting, drilling, or finishing cycles.
The controller draws 1.4 A from the 24 V control bus, which affects auxiliary supply loading in multi-axis cabinets. Internal cooling air is driven by a blower that receives 220 VAC, separating thermal management from the DC link. For continuous operation, the power stage delivers 70 A to the spindle windings, while the intermediate circuit is held at 300 VDC to match common Rexroth drive backplanes. Position feedback is forwarded to upstream motion controllers through an incremental encoder output that produces 360,000 incr/rev, enabling fine velocity control at high speed. All components can operate without derating up to 55 °C, which helps the unit remain suitable for warm production areas.
During rapid tapping or heavy plunge cuts, the unit can momentarily source up to 100 A, providing reserve torque to help clear chips without stalling. Its internal resolver interface interpolates rotor angle down to 1/2,000,000 rev, so the CNC can command very precise spindle positioning when the axis is indexing rather than spinning continuously. This fine interpolation also supports accurate spindle orientation between machining steps. The controller weighs 10.5 kg, giving it a solid form for cabinet mounting while also supporting heat dissipation from the power semiconductors and braking circuitry.
