Product Description:
The TDA 1.1-050-3-D0I main spindle controller is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the TDA Main Spindle Controllers series. It is installed between the CNC or PLC and the machine’s spindle motor to regulate speed and current within the permitted duty cycle for metal-cutting or forming equipment. This arrangement allows the higher-level control to issue spindle commands while the controller manages the motor power delivered to the axis.
Electrical capability includes a continuous effective current of 35 A, while peak operation is allowed up to a rated current of 50 A for short acceleration demands. The power stage is supplied from a DC link stabilized at 300 VDC, and keeping this bus voltage constant helps minimize torque ripple at the motor. Control data reach the unit through a digital 16-bit parallel speed command input on connector X4, which uses a 25-pin IKS 612 interface that mates directly with Indramat numeric controls. Logic and I/O circuits draw a 1.2 A load from the machine’s 24 V service supply, and an additional ±15 V rail is provided internally for encoder evaluation through the X6 incremental output connector. The housing is 390 mm high and 150 mm wide, and it is intended for vertical mounting so natural convection can carry heat through the top grill.
Diagnostic routines use a ±15 V test current of 160 mA, allowing signal checks without energizing the power stage. The controller can operate in ambient temperatures up to +55 °C when derated, and it can be installed at elevations up to 1000 m before further current reduction is required. Its open-frame IP10 construction requires installation inside a switch cabinet but keeps the overall mass at 10.5 kg, which helps with panel arrangement. No additional encoder input is installed, so any second feedback channel must be routed directly to the CNC. Orientation must remain vertical, and the permissible width leaves space for parallel modules on standard DIN rails.
