Product Description:
The TDA 1.1-050-3-API main spindle controller is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. It is part of the TDA Main Spindle Controllers series. It accepts analog velocity references from a CNC or motion card and modulates spindle motor phase currents so cutting tools maintain commanded speeds and orientation during machining.
The unit can deliver a continuous output of 35 A, while its short-term rated capacity reaches 50 A. These current limits set the allowable thermal load before the drive must be derated. Internal power is derived from a 300 VDC DC link, so the supply section must provide stable rectified voltage at this level. Control electronics draw 1.2 A from the +24 V bus and 160 mA from the ±15 V rails, which helps with cabinet power supply sizing. High-resolution spindle orientation is supported by an incremental encoder output with 360000 increments per revolution, enabling fine positioning for rigid tapping and tool-change alignment. The controller also includes an additional interface for incremental encoder feedback, and it can process either spindle feedback or secondary motor feedback on its encoder input.
The device operates correctly up to 1000 m above sea level without adjustment and carries an enclosure classification of IP10, indicating basic finger protection when mounted inside a closed panel. It is intended for ambient temperatures between +5 to +45 °C, and output capability is reduced once the surrounding air reaches the +55 °C derating threshold. Vertical mounting is required to align the heat sink fins with natural convection paths, and the 10.5 kg weight must be supported by a rigid backplane. Speed references are received as an analog ±10 V signal. Permitted storage spans −30 to +85 °C, allowing safe shipment and storage.
