The SOT02-E2A-FW station operator terminal belongs to the SOT Operator Panels series produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. It serves as the human-machine interface in automated cells, giving direct access to process variables, status messages, and alarm data without relying on a supervisory computer. By combining a multiline display, a keypad, and field wiring points in a single enclosure, it supports local machine operation where quick status review and command entry are needed. This arrangement keeps the interface close to the controlled equipment, so routine monitoring and response can be handled directly at the panel.

This terminal exchanges data with controllers over RS-485, so it can be wired in long multidrop networks without signal repeaters. Operators read messages on a 16 line display lit by a CCFL backlight, and contrast can be adjusted from the front panel to suit bright or dim working areas. A standard membrane keyboard supports numeric entry and soft-key assignments, and the housing uses Station Unit construction for direct panel mounting. The cable run may reach 1000 m, reliable service is maintained up to 95% RH in noncondensing environments, and temperature-rated components allow continuous operation from 5 to +45 °C.

For field connections, the board provides 8 output terminals that can drive indicator lamps, relays, or audible alarms based on controller status. User programs and screen formats reside in 512 KB of battery-backed RAM, which preserves stored data during power loss and allows the interface to retain its operating screens after shutdown. The viewing area measures 4-7/8 × 2-3/4 in, giving clear character height without enlarging the bezel and leaving enough room for multiline status presentation. The electronics tolerate storage or transport temperatures from -30 to +85 °C, and the unit can be installed at elevations up to 1000 m MSL without derating.
