The SOT Operator Panels (Station Operator Terminal) from Bosch Rexroth Indramat are remote-mounted operator control devices used with the CLM control module to provide the same basic input functions and operating information as the CLM front panel while adding additional operator features.
The SOT uses an LCD display with a viewing area of approximately 4-7/8 in × 2-3/4 in and can show 16 lines of 40 characters, letting it present more on-screen information than the CLM panel at one time. Operator interaction is through click-contact keys and dedicated machine-control inputs commonly used for functions such as mode selection, axis jog forward/reverse, and cycle start/stop/resume (plus other pushbutton functions defined by the machine builder). The panel is designed to connect through the CLM’s serial communications interface and supports longer-distance mounting using an RS-485 link, allowing installation up to about 1000 meters from the CLM with appropriate cabling. SOT screens and prompts can be customized using Indramat’s ScreenManager software and then downloaded to the terminal, enabling guided operator prompts and data entry over the serial link.
