The SOT02-E1R-CR operator panel is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the SOT Operator Panels series. It functions as a station operator terminal dedicated to rollfeed machinery, supplying front-end control for inline feeders, presses, and cutters within industrial automation cells. By providing fixed human-machine interaction away from the main controller, the unit simplifies recipe selection, alarm acknowledgment, and status tracking on the plant floor. This arrangement keeps routine commands close to the material path, so normal adjustments can be made without relying on the main control cabinet.

As a station unit intended for rollfeed duties, the panel accepts serial traffic over RS-232/RS-485 and supports a combined data rate of 19,200 baud. Within that range, the RS-232 channel preserves signal integrity up to 15 m, while internal buffering helps share the same screens over the two-wire bus. A resident memory bank of 128 KB stores operator dialogs, alarm texts, and field variables created in the ScreenManager editor. Coupling these resources with a dedicated rollfeed keyboard layout lets the machine issue jog, length, and feed commands from a single control point. The application tag Rollfeed indicates that the screen set is intended for cyclic feed lengths and synchronized start signals.

For extended installations, the RS-485 port transports traffic as far as 1000 m, and its line-turnaround timing remains deterministic because the link operates in half-duplex mode. Operators read process prompts on a 16-line display that presents plain text without the overhead of graphics, allowing message refresh at full bus rate. Because the enclosure is remote-mounted, the faceplate can be fixed to pedestals or swing arms near the feed rollers while the drive controller stays in a sealed cabinet. ScreenManager files can be downloaded through either serial port, which allows updates to be transferred without opening the enclosure during normal setup changes.
