The SD-A3.031.030-05.000 is a brushless servo motor developed by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the SD Magnet Motors series. Within automated machinery, it converts drive commands into controlled rotary motion, supplying regulated torque and speed to axes that perform positioning, indexing, or light material-handling tasks. Permanent magnets on the rotor support quick acceleration, while the stator windings receive three-phase current from a compatible drive controller. This arrangement provides responsive motion for applications that require controlled changes in speed and direction.
The motor reaches a nominal speed of 3000 rpm, providing a fixed reference when selecting gear ratios and duty cycles. At standstill, it can deliver 3.1 Nm so vertical or tensioned loads remain supported without motion. A thermal switch trips at 140 °C; once this limit is reached, the drive can shut down to prevent winding damage. If the rotor stalls, a block-detection circuit waits two seconds before responding, and the current is then limited to 50% of its rated value to reduce heat during a jam. Dynamic braking energy is dissipated through an 8.2 Ω resistor. The release coil for the optional holding brake is supplied with +24 VDC with a +10% tolerance. At least 57 Ws must be available in the drive’s energy store to ensure that the brake opens properly.
The motor uses a ferrite magnet system, which provides stable magnetic flux without rare-earth materials. Position feedback electronics receive ±15 VDC through a dedicated supply and report rotor speed with a tacho constant of 2.7 V/1000 rpm ±5%. The encoder leads run in a shielded cable containing ten 0.14 mm² conductors and four 0.5 mm² conductors, while the power phases terminate on 1.5 mm² conductors. The drive can be installed up to 100 m from the motor without exceeding the recommended voltage drop. Six incremental signals carry position data to the controller. These signals include the A, B, and C tracks and their complementary 1, 2, and 3 tracks.
