The S20-RS-UNI Communication Module by Bosch is designed for operating standard input/output devices using serial interfaces within a bus system. This S20-RS-UNI communication module supports serial interfaces including RS-232, RS-485 and RS-422. It uses push in connection for secure and efficient wiring. The supported protocols are Transparent, End-to-End, XON/XOFF and Modbus RTU in master mode. The transmission speed can be parameterized between 110 bit/s and 250 kbit/s. The physical transmission medium is copper. The input buffer capacity is 4 kByte and output buffer is 1 kByte. The device accepts 5 to 8 data bits and uses 1 or 2 stop bits. The local bus interface connects via a bus base module and supports a transmission speed of 100 Mbit/s. the electrical communication is powered by 5 V DC through the bus base module. It typically consumes 200 mA current with a maximum of 240 mA. For integration into PROFIBUS systems, it requires 14 bytes of parameter data and 7 bytes for configuration. The electrical isolation is provided in the module with 500 V AC test voltage between 5 V supply (logic) and functional earth ground and between 5 V supply (logic) and 5 V supply (I/O) each tested for 1 minute at 50 Hz.
