Product Description:
The S20-PWM-4-T is a pulse-width modulation output unit from Bosch Rexroth Indramat in the S20 IndraControl Modules series. Mounted on a DIN rail alongside other S20 modules, the device converts digital control commands from the local bus into current-modulated signals that drive hydraulic or pneumatic actuators. Within an automation cell, it serves as the interface between the PLC and field valves, allowing the required duty cycles, frequencies, and response times for motion or pressure regulation to be produced directly from the compact control rack.
The electronic design includes 4 independent PWM output stages. Each channel supports a continuous load of 8 A, allowing direct actuation of solenoid coils without external relays. The output stages draw power from a field supply rail of 24 V DC, so the upstream power source must maintain that nominal level for predictable duty-cycle linearity. To exchange data with the S20 backplane, the module communicates over a local bus that transfers process images at 100 Mbps. This bandwidth keeps setpoint updates aligned with axis controllers. The slim DIN-rail housing has an IP20 protection rating, limiting installation to closed electrical cabinets where the module remains protected from accidental contact and large solid objects.
Field wiring uses a push-in connection, allowing conductors to lock into place without tightening screws. The mechanical tongue-and-groove edges couple the module to a neighboring bus base module that distributes logic power and the high-speed signal pair. The internal regulator tolerates a supply ripple of ±5%, helping prevent false energization when the 24 V rail dips during inrush events. Its programmable PWM curves accommodate proportional and switching valve types, enabling fine flow control on one channel while another channel performs fast on-and-off cycles within the same manifold. The independent channels allow several valve functions to operate from one compact module while retaining separate output control. Push-in terminals also simplify conductor insertion in densely arranged control cabinets where access to conventional screw terminals may be restricted.
