Product Description:
The S20 IndraControl Modules series includes the S20-PWM-2/2, a Bosch Rexroth Indramat output module intended to generate pulse-width-modulated signals for valve, heater, or motor control tasks inside distributed I/O stations. As part of the S20 platform, it occupies a single slot on the backplane and converts higher-level control words from the station bus into duty-cycle-driven outputs. This arrangement allows power to be modulated for field devices while keeping wiring localized to the module row. The compact installation format also reduces the amount of field wiring routed through the control enclosure.
The module provides 2 galvanically isolated output channels. Each channel can switch loads up to 8 A, so the module can operate many solenoid or resistive actuators found in medium-power zones. Logic and configuration data are referenced to a 5 V DC communications rail; this low voltage protects the backplane electronics from accidental high-voltage injection. Field conductors are inserted through a push-in connection, permitting tool-free wiring and reliable spring contact even under vibration. The front housing meets IP20 protection, which prevents finger contact with live parts and blocks solid objects larger than 12.5 mm while allowing airflow for convection cooling. Internally, the PWM carrier is derived from the station clock, so duty-cycle resolution remains consistent regardless of bus load.
Up to 63 modules can be chained on a single station before the available bus power or address range is exhausted. For inline mounting, the device withstands shocks of 30 g, sustained vibration of 5 g, and bump impulses rated at 10 g without losing electrical contact. These limits are supported by a plastic housing molded from self-extinguishing V0 material, which slows flame propagation during an electrical fault. The secure housing helps protect the internal electronics against movement during repeated mechanical stress. The isolated channel arrangement also separates the output circuits from one another, helping prevent a fault on one connected load from directly affecting the other output channel.
