Product Description:
The S20-PSDO-8/3 is a safety output slice produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the S20 IndraControl Modules series. As a safe digital output module, it switches actuators such as contactors or valve coils under integrated safety logic. When installed on an S20 backplane, it adds discrete safety outputs that allow a controller to deenergize machinery whenever the safety program requires a stop. This capability supports functional safety tasks in industrial automation lines where controlled shutdowns are required.
The module offers 8 independent channels that switch their respective OUT, GND, and FE terminals. Each channel functions as a safe digital output, and internal diagnostics confirm that the commanded and actual states match before the signal is released. The circuits operate within the protective extra-low voltage class to limit touch voltage and reduce electrical hazards. The plastic housing has a front protection rating of IP20, so the module must be installed inside a suitable cabinet. A node can operate with as many as 63 additional S20 station devices on the same backplane. Push-in connectors accept solid or ferruled wires through direct insertion. Their three-conductor arrangement separates the load, return, and functional earth paths for organized field wiring.
The module is mounted on a grounded DIN rail, and its spring-cage terminals guide and secure the field wiring. These terminals accept conductors with cross-sectional areas of up to 1.5 mm². PROFIBUS or PROFINET safety masters exchange cyclic data with the slice through the PROFIsafe protocol, enabling SIL-rated shutdowns without hardwired relays. During installation, the conductor insulation must be stripped to exactly 8 mm to provide full insertion and reliable clamping force. Zinc yellow color coding in RAL 1018 distinguishes the safety output connectors from those used by standard slices. The host panel requires a minimum enclosure rating of IP54 to prevent conductive dust from reaching the contacts. The spring-cage mechanism also maintains conductor retention during vibration without requiring periodic retightening.
