Product Description:
The S20-IOL-8 Function Module is designed for integration into an S20 station. It supports communication with up to eight IO-Link devices or digital sensors. This module acts as an interface between IO-Link peripherals and a higher-level control system via the S20 bus coupler.
The S20-IOL-8 function module features two local bus interfaces with a 100 Mbps transmission speed. It is powered by a 5 V DC supply from the bus base module and consumes a maximum of 50 mA with a power usage of up to 250 mW. The IO devices are powered through a 24 V DC supply that supports a voltage range of 18 V DC to 30 V DC. The typical current consumption without connected peripherals is 46 mA and can reach up to 60 mA. The total maximum current draw is 8 A including I/O circuit and C/Q as DO at L+/L-. The power consumption of the model is up to 192 W with a typical value of 1104 mW. The surge protection is provided electronically at 35 V for 0.5 seconds. The reverse polarity protection is implemented with a parallel diode and optional external 5 A fuse.
Eight Class A IO-Link ports are available in this S20-IOL-8 function module that uses push in connection and 3 conductor technology. Each port supports a nominal current of 1 A at L+/L- and 200 mA at C/Q. The overload protection is electronically limited to 1.2 A and short circuit protection activates after 5 ms. The IO-Link port supply L+ uses 24 V DC nominal voltage with an input range of 18 V DC to 30 V DC. In digital input mode, the module offers eight inputs compliant. Each input uses 3-conductor push-in technology and supports a nominal input voltage of 24 V DC.
Frequently Asked Questions about S20-IOL-8:
Q: Does the S20-IOL-8 handle high transmission speeds across its local bus?
A: Yes, it features two local bus interfaces with a 100 Mbps transmission speed. These interfaces ensure fast and stable communication within the S20 station.
Q: Can the S20-IOL-8 function module supply adequate power for IO-Link devices?
A: It uses a 24 V DC supply with an input range from 18 V DC to 30 V DC. The total maximum current draw including I/O circuit and C/Q at L+/L- is 8 A.
Q: Is the short-circuit protection in S20-IOL-8 fast enough for sensitive installations?
A: The protection triggers in just 5 ms after a short circuit is detected. Overload protection is electronically limited to 1.2 A per port for enhanced safety.
Q: Does the Phoenix Contact S20-IOL-8 provide sufficient input voltage in digital input mode?
A: Each of the eight digital inputs supports a nominal input voltage of 24 V DC. All inputs follow the 3-conductor push-in connection method for secure wiring.
Q: How does the S20-IOL-8 protect against reverse polarity and power surges?
A: It has reverse polarity protection using a parallel diode with an optional external 5 A fuse. Surge protection is electronically regulated at 35 V for 0.5 seconds.
